Backyard SwimRun, Kuopio

Last weekend’s Kuopio Backyard Swimrun delivered some truly impressive performances. Personal records were shattered, and even first-time swimrunners showed that beyond experience, it’s solid base fitness and overall psychophysical endurance that really count in this format. Athletes pushed themselves for 15–19 hours. In the Fighters series, the field began to narrow after 15 laps. An hour later, only the top three remained. After 18 laps – roughly 75 kilometers – the race continued with two of the strongest athletes: Iida and Niina. The final showdown saw Niina Muona starting lap 20 – which she completed with strength and determination, earning the overall race victory!
